HIRING: McDonald’s to hire [#McDonalds]
McDonald’s would hire 23,000 people in Texas, including 1,800 workers in Dallas-Fort Worth.
The announcement is part of an effort to hire 260,000 workers in the United States this summer.
McDonald’s did not lay off any employees during the coronavirus pandemic.
There are some 21 million people on unemployment and more than 44 million have applied for benefits since the pandemic began, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The 1,800 positions available in D-FW are at over 300 local McDonald’s restaurants.
Employees can apply for a program called Archways to Opportunity, which has given $100 million to workers going to college.
The open positions at McDonald’s will involve training to understand McDonald’s COVID-19 protocols.
According to Joy Silmon, a McDonald’s franchisee in North Texas, McDonald’s has a list of tactics to attempt to keep customers and employees safe from the spread of COVID-19.
Gov. Greg Abbott recently tightened restrictions on restaurants and bars to try to curb the spread.
In the past few weeks, restaurants in North Texas are reporting an increased number of positive COVID-19 cases in their kitchens.
